A whirlwind came out of the north

After healing from a long and traumatic postpartum trial, I decided to translate into words and images the period from my daughter (Aurora)’s birth until present, which has been an ongoing quest to find and to know her.

I embarked on a journey to Iceland, to experience a double search: that of the Aurora Borealis (Áróra), and that of Aurora, now 4-year-old.

Integrating poetry, music by Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, and an in situ performance by Romanian actress, singer and dancer Sânziana Tarța, emerged under the influence of Loie Fuller’s “Serpentine” dance, I created a film, to honor both my endeavour of becoming a mother and Aurora’s endeavour of becoming a daughter.
